On Saturday, August 29th, Planet Rock band, Ground Wire, kicked off the 2009 Red Bull Soap Box Derby At Piedmont Park in Atlanta, GA.  The exclusive VIP event took place inside of Piedmont Park's amazing restaurant and facility "Park Tavern."

Blink 182 drummer, Travis Barker, caught wind of Ground Wire's early success as a band and provided the band with rock-star stage-clothes from his clothing line "Famous Stars and Straps."  Photos of the band will appear soon on Travis' website at:  http://www.famoussas.com The band showcased their new look and put on an amazing and electrifying show for over 300 Red Bull VIP attendees including Red Bull executives, bar owners, distributors, and friends.

The band rocked the event playing classic hits, including songs from The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Metallica, Guns & Roses, Journey, and Deep Purple to name a few.  This amazing teen band really knows how to get a crowd going and earned their "Red Bull wings," when they got a standing ovation from all of the Red Bull VIPs at the end of their show.

While at the event, all six members; Jay, Rachel, Alex, Christian, Will, & Dillon were able to share a VIP moment with pro-skater and Red Bull Soap Box judge Ryan Sheckler who seemed to be as excited to meet all the members of Ground Wire.

The Red Bull Soapbox Race is a national race for amateur drivers, which is fueled by creativity and competitive fun - not to mention the need for speed. This unique non-motorized racing event challenges both experienced racers and amateurs alike to design and build outrageous, human-powered soapbox dream machines and compete against the clock in a downhill race.
